SF60 REACHES HALFWAY MILESTONE
Built for global circumnavigation by an experienced owner, the 60m (197ft) SF60 has reached the halfway construction milestone and is on schedule for delivery in 2024.
Commissioned by an experienced serial yachtsman who requested a boat that shares the same comforts as his home, the SF60 is the third hull in the SF line in which SF Yachts serves as owner’s representative, managing the build from concept to completion. It follows on from the successful launch of the SF42, and the SF55 – the award-winning Al Waab – in March 2022.
The SF60’s holistic design enjoys a steel ice-class hull, aluminium superstructure and volume of nearly 1,200 GT. The four-decked boat promises to deliver a comfortable and stable guest experience, both at anchor and underway.
“The owner challenged all of us to create a masterpiece where interior and exterior fuse together with a natural blend and flow,” says SF Yachts’ CEO, Francesco Pitea. “The winter garden combined with the large foredeck are innovative solutions, as is the observation deck that enhances the yacht’s overall presence.”
Currently in build in Turkey, the joining of the yacht’s hull and superstructure is fast approaching. Work has commenced on the lower deck interior, and the instalment of engines and systems is slated for midway through 2023.
“We have reached the best stage of the build where the yacht is shaping up nicely,” adds Pitea. “The owner’s dream is to sail the world and he’s excited to commence that journey aboard the SF60.”
The SF55 Al Waab was the longest steel and aluminium yacht in the world below 500GT at the time of its launch. “The SF60 promises to be equally as dazzling as Al Waab and is an example of another project built with the SF philosophy that guarantees quality, time and budget,” says Pitea.
